Forget about muscular heroes or mystical warriors! In Brotato, your only hope is a grumpy potato packing the firepower of an entire military division.
Brotato is a roguelite arena shooter that is a cacophony of chaos. It removes the boring mechanics of aiming by hand, leaving you with a pure challenge of movement, resource management, and wild, unorthodox builds. Every round is a frenzied blitzkrieg where one blunder is the difference between being a god of destruction and a pile of crushed potato chips.

As waves of monsters descend, your armament will automatically open fire on the nearest unfortunate foes. All you have to do is guide your potato through hazardous gaps. Dead enemies will drop green crystals, which serve as both experience points to level up and payment for your needs. Fleeing is a natural instinct, but the ultimate mark of a survivor is to charge directly into the middle of a monster swarm to scavenge supplies.
Survive a wave, and you’ll enter the upgrade shop—the very soul of the game. Here, the green currency you’ve gathered is transformed into raw power. You can combine two weapons of the same tier to create an ultimate version, or test your luck by "rerolling" the shop in search of game-changing items. Every item comes with a trade-off: an object that grants a massive boost to critical damage might simultaneously reduce your movement speed or maximum health.
Avoid hoarding a collection of unrelated, junk-tier weapons. Weapons in Brotato belong to specific "types"—such as Melee, Ranged, Elemental, or Engineering. The more weapons you own that share the same type, the more bonus stats you gain. Equipping six submachine guns or six lightsabers will always yield far greater destructive power than a hodgepodge of random gear.
Raw damage is not King early on. Focus on stats such as "Harvesting" (which passively creates currency and experience after each round) and "Luck" (which improves the drop rate for high-quality goods and health pickups). The first 10 waves will build a solid economic foundation and provide you with the capital to trade freely. By the final 10 waves, your potato will be an unkillable fortress.
*Brotato* features dozens of characters, each with their own eccentric skill sets—play by their specific rules. If you choose "Chunky," convert your health and armor into raw damage. If you play as the "Pacifist," don't bother trying to kill enemies; instead, acquire items that sacrifice damage in exchange for speed and harvesting bonuses, then survive by running for your life until the timer runs out.
If you spot a weapon or item in the shop that’s exactly what you need—but you’re short on funds—don’t hesitate to hit the "Lock" button. The item will remain available for the next round, allowing you to plan your spending perfectly without having to rely solely on the whims of luck.
